    Struggling run in Sentosa

Today's route is Henderson-Telok Blangah Way- Sentosa- Kampong Bahru-Club... abt 12km... It has been ages since i last ran into Sentosa... My stomach still hurts and I decided to go easy.. just enjoy the run...

As we were approaching the junction to Sentosa, we saw the 1st grp ran across with yean and segolene speeding across in time... Uncle Richard, Patric, Jimmy Tan, Cm and me waited for the next greenman... Then we saw Anton at the bridge... he waited for us as his Islander card was with CM.. the front grp were already halfway up the bridge.. CM flashed our passes and those without pass have to pay $2 each..

I took a quick drink at the 1st toilet.. and joined the rest of the group... Along Siloso beach, there were some changes to the footpath.. I ran up the side tracks to avoid the rocky ground.. Same as the rest, I din stop at the 2nd toilet... the pain was almost unbearable when I exit from the beach.. I felt weak and giddy.. I slowed down.. Divey and Wong ran past me.. Cm and Patric also overtook me somewhere along the lightly dimmed road.. Patric gave up at the bridge... I can't wait to finish this run.. told myself.. u must finish this.. 3km oni... the pain would be even longer if I walk... glad tt I managed to struggle through the last stretch back to club....

    Discovery Run to Kent Ridge

Today's route is Canterbury-Kent Ridge-MT Faber-Club... Cm will lead us to a shortcut from Canterbury to Kent Ridge.. haha he recce the route with auntie few days ago.. Keeping in mind to run at my pace, I focus on my breathing and steps.. At the end of depot road, my watch clocked 12 min plus.. cm and the front group waited for us and we went in to canterbury all together.. everyone was gg easy today.. cos we have to familiarise with the route for this sunday location run... we ran the opposite direction from the usual route.. Melvin performed the back running up the steep slope.. haha.. everything looks downwards to him.. next time must ask him to try speed work @ MF with back running hehehe... once up the slope, we had a short rest as cm briefed us the 1st phototaking spot... my breathing was abit heavy by then... i breathed in hard and deep and ran on.. soon we reached the trail route along Normanton Park, we slowed down and looked out for the branches.. I did this route once quite a long time ago.. and have to jump over the drain.. but now there is a mini bridge and lead us out to Kent Ridge Park...

At the peak of Kent Ridge, we took a quick break and Cm briefed us on the 2nd photo taking location .. at the Canon.. We will skip MF for tonight.. as we planned a surprise Birthday celebration for our Dreamer, Anthony.. hehe.. Along the downslope of Kent Ridge, Ong told me tt my footsteps are not in rythm.. can hear the shagness from them... and we slowed down to get the rythmic pace... I tot about the good running form I read earlier.. and felt it much easier to run and conc.. it really does help in keeping me *focus focus*

The jam was very bad along Pasir Panjiang due to an accident at Alexandra/Telok Blangah Way junction.. Two lanes were blocked... A TP was talking to the drivers as we waited for the greenman.. As we approached henderson road, we saw Anthony ran towards MF direction.. haha good good so we have time to prepare.. There was a strong burning smell as we approached the junction... alot of pipes were on the floor.. seem like a big fire broke out during the day... i felt uncomfortable with the smell and pain in my adominal.. I told Ong.. walk back walk back.. he say no! u must finish.. take the last busstop as the target.. i got to overcome the weak mind.. just think how i did my marathon.. each small step to the finishing pt.. else it will be a dishearted run for me again.. I am glad i finished it! thanks dear!

The birthday preps were done just in time b4 Anthony came back from his run.. we sang, took pictures and enjoyed the after run session with cake and 100 plus! Anthony, Happy Belated Birthday :D

    Short Run cum Core Training

Our club seem to have grown quite abit over this period.. >20 runners turn up... Our old timers, Jimmy Tan and Mr Foo back with us too.. haven seen them for quite a while..

As usual we gathered at the lobby with CM and Ong briefing us on the route and the location run this sunday... Today's program is a short run (~8km) with core strengthening exercises.. Do complimented tt I slim down... haha.. quite surprise and gave him disbelieving look which triggered Anton to have a laugh from my expression.. haha but girls lah.. hear ppl say slim liao.. inside sure happy happy.. haha thanks DO! felt i put on weight instead cos eat more than i run.. kaka..

At the start, had a short chat with jimmy and enghwa abt my new job.. saw Ong slowed down due to his collateral injury and gout.. thinking he will catch up with my pace, i ran on.. after a while, i looked back and waited for him... he signalled me to continue from afar.. was kinda worried and looked back a couple of times but he was nowhere in sight... Along Alexandra road, Cm chat with me as we ran and i realise i can't replied back.. i have problems with my breath.. felt i can't breathe normally and nothing came out tho i wanted to say something.. instead i have to use hand signs to tell him.. haha..

by the time we reach harbourfront junction, i felt quite bad.. i couldn't catch my breathe.. cm and divey mentioned abt the haze.. i also not sure but was feeling kinda tired this wk due to new wk hrs and some health issues.. maybe still at the adapting phase... i slowed down my pace and cm waited for me.. after kampong bahru, i signalled to cm tt i gg by TB crescent and ask him to go ahead without me... as i decided to stop.. i couldn't talk much too along the way back to club.. just listen and gave short replies/hand signs...

once at the club, i quickly drink from the cooler station.. took quite a mouthfuls of it b4 joining the rest for the core session... managed to recover later and got back to my cheery self... is this mood/physical swings?? haven been running well for the past wks.. :(

    KL Half Marathon

Wow it's been ages since i last update my blog.. busy with past work and now adapting to new job! din do much training after my HK trip.. haha.. on and offs.. overall not so good in my progress...

Had a couple days of rest b4 gg for this trip.. Met up with our mbrs at Grassland golden mile.. Cm was there to send us off.. he can't join in cos of last min work... We have 9 ppl with us including me and Ong.. Coincidentally Francis, with his gf and friend were also in the same bus as us.. At 7am sharp, our bus went off..

Our guide for the trip is Alan.. haha very similar when we were in HK.. when he bought us ard.. We reached KL at ard 12pm and had lunch with Adam, his wife, Wong and Mr Lim b4 collecting our race pack.. We saw Laichee and Jerry at the center too! Also Kumaran fren's the Kenyans! haha...

We have a birthday boy for this trip! Adam's birthday! and we had a mini celebration for him b4 turning in for the race day!

As usual, Ong got up earlier to prepare.. haha i washed up and took a pkt of power gel... we walked abt 1km plus to the start pt.. just b4 gg to the reporting area, i had a very bad stomachache.. luckily the toilet is clean to use.. else i dunno how to do my race..

We started at 6.30am... i had my new polar watch, HRM and footpod with me.. heard there is no distance markers.. hope my footpod will come into good use.. :) as usual, i jsut ran as per normal.. heard my watch beeped at every km.. reached the 1st 5km at 35mins.. 7 mins pace.. din really plan out the timing i wanted to complete.. just run and complete... at one water pt, i was given a power gel, i took half of it and grasped a bottle of water.... cos it was quite dry... as i was abt to throw away the bottle.. someone shoutd " Jaime dun throw" haha was abit surprised.. and the next moment, Francis came up to me... haha.. he went ahead..

soon i saw Mr Lim in front of me.. we ran together for a while and i went on.. din chk on my watch until i passed the water pt towards the city... my watch shown 12km.. hmm was feeling abit weird.. cos seem to run for quite a distance already.. but i just ran on...

Near a traffic junction, Mak came up from behind and told me tt shldn't be any U turn at the ending pt.. but heard from Wong and Alan b4 the start of the race, tt there is U turn pt near the ending... i chked my watch again.. OMG.. i have been running for 2 hrs already.. and the distance is oni 14km.. was quite panic as the cut off time for half is 2.5 hrs.. but thinking back i cannot be tt slow also.. must be some calibration errors with the footpod.. soon i reach the finishing pt mark and went for my loop b4 the actual finishing pt! Timing @ the system... 2 hrs 19mins 11secs.. haha much slower than HK race.. Mak was saying i looked very relax during the run.. but contented to get my finisher medal haha.. tot i couldn't make it initially.. hehe

Overall race was quite ok.. just quite disappointed as there are no distance markers and calibration error with my footpod... but the eating and shopping trip after the race were very enjoyable and i was not so bothered by it at all.. haha :D
